5 Simple Email Automation for Every Step of Your Customer Journey
|
|
Email automation can be daunting, but we've tried to make it ✨
very demure, very mindful. ✨
In this month's Idealetter, we have simplified email automation. You can start with the 5 automations mentioned below for each stage of your customer
journey.
And we've also added prebuilt automation recipes for all of them that you can simply customize and send.
|
|
#1: Awareness Stage: Introduce your brand
|
Let’s start with where it all starts — the awareness stage. They have probably heard about your lead magnet or event and signed up for it. If
this is their first touch with your brand, you must create a good first impression.
To do that, you need to give them what they have come for - the ebook, a slot in your event, etc. Then, you can introduce your brand and what you do in the
same email.
In the second email, you can ask for feedback on the resource or event and get to know them better by asking what they find challenging.
Now that you have some data on their interests or struggles, you can slowly introduce your product and how it can help them with their interests or issues
in subsequent emails.

#2: Consideration Stage: Nurture the leads
|
Now that you have introduced yourself and what your brand does, now comes the time to nurture these leads. The goal here is to educate them
about your product/service so that they might become customers.
To do that, you must establish yourself as the thought leader in the topic/industry. So, send them helpful resources that you have, like ebooks, checklists,
newsletters, etc.
You can also send them case studies to provide social proof of your product or service's effectiveness. Lastly, you can offer them a limited-time
discount to entice users to sign up and try the product.

#3: Decision Stage: Encourage conversions
|
Once they have signed up for a free trial and started using your product, next you would want them to convert them into paying customers.
To do this, you need to give them a reason to convert. So, send an email introducing some exclusive features only available in the paid plan to show them
what they are missing out on.
Also, switching to a paid plan is a challenging decision, so make it easy for them to do it by showing some proof of concept. Send an email showing how
people use some of your product’s premium features to solve their pain points.
If they haven’t converted, collect feedback to understand their experiences and needs. Then, your team can use this information to contact them to
get them to convert.
This
flow
below can be used as a stand-alone for people who directly sign up for a free trial without bypassing the lead stage.

#4: Retention Stage: Adoption & getting repeat business
|
|
After they become paying customers, the goal should be to keep them using the product. They are likelier to stick around when they use the product
more.
To do this, send them an email showcasing a new or underrated feature that can be helpful for them. If they aren’t trying it out, provide more
resources (help articles, blog posts) to help users understand the feature.
You can also add a GIF to showcase how the product/feature works in a few simple steps.

Now, from the previous stage, if customers are actively using your product, this can be the time to get them to upsell/cross-sell.
To do this, you can introduce a useful feature/service in a higher-end plan. Explain the benefits they would get from switching to the higher plan, and you
can mention some other features included in the plan.
If they haven’t upgraded, in the next email, give them an exclusive offer as they are existing customers. Show them some case studies and answer some
FAQs to help ease any objections they might have.

Now, you better understand what to do, but setting it all up can still be difficult. So, we’ve made things easier for you by creating an automation
recipe for all the flows mentioned above and some predesigned templates for each email I mentioned.
All you have to do is
- Customize the templates with your content and branding
- Test the full automation to see if it works seamlessly
- Publish the automation
