6 Essential Email Strategies to Get Started |
You finally decided to start using email marketing. But there are so many different emails that you could send, and it is natural to feel stuck. Or try to do everything at once. The good news is you don’t have to figure it all out at once. In this edition of the Idealetter, we walk you through the first few emails you need to send when getting started so you can feel confident without overcomplicating things. |
| Most of you would have already created some lead magnets like ebooks, templates, or checklists to acquire new leads. And when someone signs up to access these resources, you send them an email with the link to the resource. At least, that's what I hope you have done. If not, let's create that email first. Since this is one of the first emails they'll receive from you, keep it simple -Thank them for signing up and give them the link to what they signed up for. Here’s a template you can use to create this email. 👇🏼 | | The next step is to create an email where you collect their feedback about the resource. This will help you understand your audience and improve your resources. These two emails are the most crucial to send in the beginning stages to your leads who've downloaded your lead magnet. You'll need to automate this email flow and can do so with triggers such as an API/Webhook or a form submission event from your landing page to your ESP to trigger the flow. If you need some help with how triggers work, we covered that in a previous edition of the Idealetter—be sure to check it out! Later on, you can add more emails to this flow to highlight the value of your product, and nudge them towards signup or demo. All this might sound like a lot of work, so we've built a ready-to-use lead magnet sequence for you. With this prebuilt sequence, all you have to do is click on ‘Create this on Mailmodo’, customize the templates to fit your needs, test, and publish. |

#2: Post sign-up welcome emails | Next up, you need to set up emails that'll be sent to the people who directly sign up for your product. The primary goal here is to introduce them to your brand and give them a clear idea of what you have to offer. Your first email should welcome them, and you can introduce yourself in it. And here’s a template you can use to get started. 👇🏼 | | In the next email, you can ask them to fill out more details if that's required to finish setting up an account on your product. If you don't need this info, you can send them an email outlining the next steps that the user needs to take with your product and how to make the most out of your offering. Then, have at least 1-2 emails where you talk about a few most beneficial features, how it works and maybe even some case studies to provide some proof. Ideally, we would say you need to send at least 3 emails in this flow to welcome and onboard your customers properly. Here's a ready-to-use welcome flow that you can use to set up these emails. |

| This email should be sent to the people who have booked a demo with you to confirm their booking. It must provide the essential details of the demo, such as the date and time. You can also ask users to provide more details regarding their pain points to better prepare for the demo. Additionally, you can also send them reminder emails a day or an hour before their scheduled demo. Here’s a template you can use to get started with creating this email 👇🏼 | |
| If you capture your leads through online events such as webinars, you must first set up a webinar registration email. Your leads may sign up for your webinars on your website or through other marketing emails that you send. Once they sign up, you can send an email thanking the user and reminding them to add the event to their calendar. This way, they'll receive notifications from their calendar about the event and will be more likely to attend. Here’s a template you can use to get started with creating this email. 👇🏼 The best part is it has an interactive ‘add to calendar’ widget. | | Then, you can send them a few reminder emails a day or even an hour before the event to ensure they do not miss it. Here's a ready-to-use webinar flow that you can use to set up these emails. |

All the above emails are aimed at nudging new leads into taking some action or starting your relationship with them. However, keeping your existing leads engaged and building trust over time is also important. Here are some emails you can send to your existing leads/ customers to sustain your relationship with them. You may send these emails regularly every few weeks/month to stay connected without overwhelming your audience. |
| If you are new to email marketing, newsletters are a great way to engage your readers and earn their trust over time. Most importantly, they give you a platform to speak candidly and share your expertise with your audience. You can design your newsletters and manually send them to your newsletter email list once or twice every month. #6: New feature/product update email | Your customers may not always be able to keep up with new updates and features you release. To keep them updated, make sure that you periodically send out new feature/ product update emails. These emails should tell your users why the new feature/ update matters to them and how to best use it. You can do this by speaking directly about their pain points. Make sure you keep the email simple, engaging, and visually appealing. Use short videos, GIFs, or screenshots to help your customers see the feature in action. These emails are also a great way to encourage engagement. You can invite users to try the update, share feedback, and tell their friends about your product. Here’s a template you can use to get started with creating this email 👇🏼 | |
